In response to the repeating human right violation along the the Cambodian and Thai border and the military fighting along the border started on 4 February 2554/2011, the Joint Committee for Khmer Thai People Relationship Building (JC/KTPR) has come up with a petition through their meeting on Conversation Between Cambodians and Thais for Neighborhood Love and Peace without Violence which was held on 7 February 2554/2011 in Phnom Penh. After the meeting in Phnom Penh, on 8 Feb. 4 of Cambodian BKSN senior leaders: Ven. Y. Hot, Ubasak Sotha, Mr. Chor & Mr. Chanthorn visited Bangkok in order to do several other activities coordinated by Mr. Chalida in order to cultivate peace:
1) Speaking to hundreds of participants of a workshop on Love and Hatred at the Thomsat University where Ubsak Sotha appealed for brothers and sisterhood and peaceful future. The participants were intellectuals, academical people, students, media, etc.
2) Meeting/Lobbying the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs HE Torphong Chaiyasan & MPs from different pol. parties: We introduced them the KTPR project including showing the video on KTPR project, submitted the petition (above) and appealed for stopping the violence at the border being taken place and promoting harmony neighborhood.
3) TV Round Table (Voice TV): We discussed way to harmony and peaceful neighborhood. Speakers:
Cambodians: Ven. Hot Khemcharo, Ub. Sotha, Dr. Senphon & Mr. Chor.
Thais: HE. Torphong Chaiyasan, Chaiman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs & Mrs. Chalida.
4) Meeting with Louk chumteav You Ay, Ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand. We introduced her the KTPR project & JC/KTPT & its members, told our planed activities, sought for her support on the KTPR and submitted the petition.
5) Meeting with the Leader of Santi Asoke Sect: We met with Ven. Rak Rakpong (Samana Pothirak) to cultivate peace and asked him to help to ensure peace and Dhamma practices, especially the Prum Vihear Thor (sympathy, lovingkindness, appreciation & neutrality). He promised to keep peace at his side.
6) Press Conference on Peace and Love Good Neighborhood without Gund. It was done at the FCCT. The process and messages of the press con. is similar to the one that we did in Phnom Penh on 7 February.
